The 6th US Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a lower decision, allowing University of Michigan’s law school to continue to use race as a factor in admissions. I’m as much for a diverse group of students as the next guy, but affirmative action is not the way to achieve this end. Affirmative action just basically says to minorities, “Oh, you can’t achieve success without our help.” It also punishes those who have no reason to be punished. This will go to the Supreme Court, and they will have a vested interest in hearing this case. People need to learn that there’s a great satisfaction on going out and achieving things based on their own merits and not because some liberal-backed legislation makes it easier.
