I meant to mention something about this at the time of the mock traffic demonstration, but I didn’t get around to it. However, a couple weeks ago, the students at Lakeview High School staged a mock traffic demonstration to convince city traffic engineers to install a left-turn signal to the new light at the entrance to the new high school, and the engineers agreed to the modification. (I’m unable to link to the original article about the mock demonstration itself, but the article I have linked should give the basic idea.) This is a profound lesson for these students: that if they do bring their concerns in a professional manner, those concerns can be addressed, and they were in this instance. The editorial board for the Battle Creek Enquirer commended the Lakeview students this morning, as do I.
