I tagged along with Mom and Greg over to the American Legion post in Quincy where they held a reverse raffle. There were 200 tickets which cost $30 apiece, and one of mine won third place, which was worth $300. (Second paid $500, while the winner got a cool G. I had also won a $5 raffle [for a 1-in-6 chance] for another ticket which got knocked out.) Even if I hadn’t gotten any money, it was still a fun evening, particularly hearing the banter between the party two tables from us and the woman drawing the tickets. Before the drawing, there was a Swiss steak dinner and an open bar, so the money spent was reasonable. I’d definitely consider going to one of those again.
